Early Life
Latimer was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Named after their grandmother, Julia Mae Latimer, who studied at Juilliard from 1941-1946,[4] and a member of the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame.[5] Raised in a religious household, they were kicked out of the house when they came out at 15 years old. They were able to move in with their father. Ultimately, their mother eventually came around to be supportive.[6]
Latimer liked history but not school overall. They were encouraged by their family and drama teacher to pursue theatre and music. They moved to New York City, New York to pursue music and theatre at Juilliard. They dropped out and for two and half years found their local queer community, and got into drugs. After that experience, they got sober, got into Juilliard a second time[6], and graduated in 2020.[1]
