Julian (actor)
Julian (born James Julian Rios; October 12, 1970) is an American pornographic actor and director who performed from 1996-2013. He is also known by the stage names Julian Rios, Julio Ruíz, Julien Andretti or Jordan Rivers.
Early life[edit]
Julian was born in West Covina, California, and grew up in Seattle, Washington. Before embarking on his adult film career, he was enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps for six years (1988–1994), served as a Marine in the Gulf War and as a sergeant at Camp Pendleton Marine Corps.[1]
Career[edit]
Julian began acting in adult films in 1996. According to the Internet Adult Film Database[2], he has 557 performer credits and 54 director credits. He is known for his many tattoos and pierced tongue.
Early on, Julian did two different scenes where he received oral sex from a male co-star in Chi Chi LaRue-produced bisexual videos, including Fly Bi Night, and used the alias Jordan Rivers. He also appeared in a pictorial spread for Playgirl magazine.[3]
He has performed with Stormy Daniels in various movies, including Space Nuts (2003) and Cargo (2004) as well as the compilations Wicked Divas: Stormy (2004) and Forever Stormy (2005). He has been nominated for several AVN Awards, including Male Performer of the Year in 2003, and won the XRCO Award in 1999 for a scene with Gwen Summers.
His first contract was with Metro[3]. In addition, he has had contracts with Vivid, VCA, New Sensations and Jill Kelly Productions. While married to Jill Kelly, Julian temporarily retired from performing, directed adult films and became JKP's Manager of Operations.[4]
After his breakup from Kelly, he performed and directed as a contract player for Platinum X and Red Light District.[5]
In 2002, Julian began spending weekend evenings hosting the cable TV program Spice Hotel on Spice Live. Citing non-industry-related engagements, such as real estate, he left the show in 2005 and Evan Stone[6] replaced him. Julian also became co-owner of Sudden Impact.[7]
His last adult credit was in 2013.
Personal life[edit]
In the 1990s, Julian lived with Stacy Valentine, with whom he performed in the documentary The Girl Next Door (1999)[8]. He was married to adult film actress Jill Kelly from 2000-2002 (divorced). He was married to adult film actress Lanny Barbie from 2005 -2009 (divorced).[1]
