Julian Peh is a Singaporean entrepreneur and lawyer, best known as the co-founder and CEO of KIP Protocol, a decentralized AI infrastructure platform focused on enabling developers, model creators, and data owners to securely deploy and monetize AI assets through Web3.

Education and early career

Peh graduated from the Faculty of Law at the National University of Singapore and began his entrepreneurial career during the early Web1 era in the 1990s. He founded a media and advertising technology company that became the largest of its kind serving luxury brands in the Asia-Pacific region. He also launched a data analytics startup serving credit card companies and regional banks. By 2016, he had exited and sold all his media and technology companies and transitioned into investing in advanced technologies including AI, robotics, and Web3.

Transition to web3 and AI

In 2017, Peh co-founded Aditus Network, a decentralized luxury marketing platform. He also founded Immersion, a Web3 consulting firm that provided research and communications services to venture capital firms such as Animoca Ventures. His AI-related investments include Eigenform, a consulting firm specializing in machine learning and natural language processing that served clients such as the World Bank and LVMH.

KIP Protocol

In April 2023, Peh co-founded KIP Protocol with Dr. Jennifer Dodgson. KIP focuses on building decentralized infrastructure for AI using blockchain technologies. The platform allows AI components such as models, applications, and knowledge bases to be tokenized and transacted as digital property. Its framework, known as decentralized Retrieval-Augmented Generation (dRAG), supports interoperability, monetization, and ownership of AI assets. KIP Protocol won the Tencent Cloud Award at the 2023 Chainlink Fall Hackathon for its work on dRAG.

KIP raised over $5 million in funding in a strategic round led by Animoca Ventures, with participation from B.Army, CSP DAO, MQdao, Spicy Capital, Skyvision Capital, and Purechain Capital. It has also announced partnerships with Open Campus to power decentralized education and with Aethir to support decentralized GPU compute for AI processing. Peh describes KIP’s approach as solving three key problems for decentralized AI: deployment, connectivity, and monetization.

Public engagement

He has presented his views in various forums and interviews, warning against the concentration of AI development among a few large corporations and advocating for decentralization as a means of restoring digital ownership and creator rights. Peh has emphasized the importance of KnowledgeFi, a framework developed by KIP Protocol to support AI value creators by enabling transparent and tokenized revenue sharing through blockchain. In the education sector, KIP is collaborating with Open Campus to launch Open Campus U, aiming to provide tokenized educational content and new monetization models for educators.

Peh’s recent appearances include keynote speeches at Web3 Dev Huddle in Bangkok and media interviews with TechTimes, The Street, ChainCatcher, and Morningstar Ventures.
