Julius Yasir Ballo (born April 20, 2003) is an American professional boxer competing in the featherweight division. He is a former member of the USA Boxing national team and has won multiple national and international amateur titles.[2]

Amateur career

Ballo began boxing at the age of three and trained at Bombersquad Boxing Academy in San Diego, California.[3] He compiled an amateur record of 51 wins and 8 losses according to BoxRec.[4]

He won the featherweight gold medal at the 2021 Junior Pan American Games in Cali, Colombia,[2] and secured back-to-back titles at the USA Boxing Elite National Championships in 2021 and 2022.[5] In 2024, he won the National Golden Gloves Championship in Detroit.[6]

Ballo also represented the United States internationally, competing at the 2022 International Invitational and participating in Olympic training camps in Colorado Springs.[7]

Professional career

In January 2025, Ballo signed a co-promotional deal with Top Rank and Overtime to begin his professional career.[8] The partnership marked Overtime's first collaboration with Top Rank.[6]

Local media reported on his transition to the professional ranks. The San Diego Union-Tribune noted that the Lakeside native was scheduled to make his debut at Madison Square Garden in July 2025.[9]

He made his professional debut on July 26, 2025, at the Madison Square Garden Theater in New York, defeating Brandan Ayala by unanimous decision over four rounds.[1] All three judges scored the bout 40–36 in Ballo’s favor.[10]
