Junga Song, studied Marine Science in South Korea and immigrated to Canada to pursue her dream to be a film director and writer, attended Advanced Film post-graduate program at Sheridan College in 2005, where she made several short films, documentaries and music videos, written and directed by her. Right after graduate her school, Junga wrote and directed a 45-minute documentary called Hope for Life on the subject of brain injuries. The film was distributed to several hospitals in North America and served as a supporting document in passing a bill regarding helmet legislation. And it earned special screening at acquired brain injury annual conference in 2005. After the success of her documentary, she continued to write and direct non-fictional and fictional films.
Love Recipe, an 8-minute short film that went on to screen at several major film festivals. The film also came in third place at a competition at the Canadian International Annual Film/Video Festival. And following the exposure herself on the award and several festivals, she shot more short films such as Dead Origins(30 mins short film), Reflection (shot with 35mm), which were also officially selected for major Film Festivals internationally.
After these successes, Junga moves on to write and direct her first feature film, Piece of Mind. The production has been successfully completed on 2010 and earned Official Selection of the 2012 Manhattan Film Festival and Toronto International Film and Video Awards. Piece of Mind is now available on iTunes, Google, Amazon and other VOD platforms. Distributed by 108 Media.
In 2019 and 2020, she made two feature films, Witten and directed by her, Artificial Selection and The Petrichor.
The Petrichor has been selected to Moscow International Film festival in 2020 and screened its world premiere on Oct 2 and 6, 2020 and this film won the best picture in Canadian Cinematography 2020 and Best Canadian picture in Ontario International Film Festival. Also, she won many awards for Best Director and best screenplay such as Honorable mention in American Golden picture international film festival and won best directing in Oniros Film Awards 2020 and Ontario International Film festival 2021 etc.
