Junglee Games is an online skill-gaming company, founded in 2012.[1], the company offers fantasy sports, card games, and social games.[2]

History[edit]

Junglee Games was founded by Ankush Gera in 2012 in San Francisco.[3] By 2019, the company had 25 million across its platforms and achieved $600 million in GTV.[4] The same year, the company acquired Algorin TechLabs, a Bengaluru-based fantasy sports company.

In January 2021, Flutter Entertainment acquired a 50.1% stake in Junglee Games, making the latter a part of the Flutter group.[5] It operates from San Francisco and Delhi and has employees based in India, the USA, Hong Kong, Canada, Argentina, and Poland.

Games[edit]

In April 2012, Junglee Games introduced its flagship product Junglee Rummy, which is one of the top three online rummy platforms in the Indian market.[5]

In 2014, the company launched the Teen Patti app on the Google play store in India. It became the No.1 card game app and ranked in the top 5 of overall top-grossing games in less than a year.[6]

Legality[edit]

The Hon'ble Supreme Court of India has ruled that playing games in which a certain level of skill is involved is safe to play online.[7] As per the apex court's ruling, gaming of skill are those games in which "success depends mainly upon the superior knowledge, training, attention, experience, and adroitness of the player.[8]

Thus, playing skill games such as rummy and fantasy sports for real money is considered a business activity and it is protected by Article 19 (1)(g) of the constitution.[7]

Partnership and Brand Ambassadors[edit]

Howzat by Junglee Games India Pvt. Ltd. acquired the title sponsorship rights of the first edition of the Legends League Cricket.[9]

This platform has signed cricketers like Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, Shardul Thakur, and Sanju Samson as its brand ambassadors.[10][11] Suresh Raina, Kumar Sangakkara, and Kieron Pollard have also been associated with the brand previously.[12][13]

Several Indian actors and celebrities such as Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj, Mouni Roy, Anup Soni, Shakti Kapoor, and Annu Kapoor have starred in Junglee Rummy's TV commercials and advertisements.[14][15]

In February 2023, the Organization appointed Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn as the brand ambassador of Junglee Rummy.
