Junior Olympic Gold
The Junior Gold Championships Youth Bowling Tournament is an American national youth singles week-long youth bowling tournament. Showcased are youth bowlers who have qualified in over 1800 qualifying events and youth leagues around the country as well as Europe, Canada and military bases throughout the world. Started in 1998, the tournament has grown to become one of the most prestigious youth bowling events in the world. Athletes compete in eight (8) gender/age divisions: U12, U15, U17, and U20. The week-long event includes numerous clinics, seminars, informal sessions with professional bowlers as well as an entertaining opening ceremony recognizing the enthusiasm the athletes bring to this event. For those youth considering collegiate bowling, more than 50 collegiate coaches are available to discuss their institutions.
History
Junior Gold was started in 1998, headed by David Dahms, manager of the (YABA) Young American Bowling Alliance. The first tournament was held in 1998 in Reno, Nevada, at the National Bowling Stadium. The tournament is now organized through the USBC (United States Bowling Congress) and IBC Youth, both located in Arlington, Texas.
There were 538 bowlers in the inaugural championships. Over the last 21 years, participation has increased from that initial 538 to 3832 in Dallas for the 2018 Championships. In anticipation of a larger event in Detroit in July 2019, eight (8) separate bowling centers will be utilized. The 2020 event will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Junior Team USA
One of the highlights of this event is the selection of several youth to represent Junior Team USA in youth championships around the world. Many past and current professional bowlers began their careers in this event.
Scholarships
Over $350,000 in scholarships are awarded to the athletes to be used solely for secondary education needs.
