Juria Ueda (Japanese: 上田純利亜; Korean: 쥬리아; born November 28, 2004), better known by her stage name Juria, is a Japanese singer and the main vocalist of the global girl group XG under XGALX and AVEX Inc.. She is a former member of the idol group Amorecarina and its sub-unit Juri♡Puri. She debuted with XG on March 18, 2022, with their first single “Tippy Toes”. She is known for her amazing vocal skills and her love for pop music, R&B, and hip-hop. [2]

Early life

Juria was born in Osaka, Japan on November 28, 2004. She grew up in a musical family and was inspired by her mother to start singing when she was only 10 years old. She developed amazing vocal skills and a passion for pop music, R&B, and Hip-Hop. She also had a dream of becoming an idol and joined a local group called Amorecarina in 2014. She performed with them for a year and also formed a duo project with another member called Juri♡Puri. She decided to leave Amorecarina on September 30, 2015, to pursue other opportunities and changed her name to Ueda Juria. She enrolled as a special student at Avex Artist Academy Tokyo, where she learned from professional instructors and improved her talents. She also appeared in some commercials and TV programs as a child actress. In 2022, she caught the attention of XGALX, a global entertainment company that was looking for trainees to debut in a new girl group. She joined XGALX and became the main vocalist of the group, which was named XG. She reverted to her original name Juria and was the sixth member to be officially announced to the public on February 3, 2022, through a teaser video that showcased her stunning visuals and powerful voice. Her family still calls her Juri as a nickname. Juri, written as 寿理, means "longevity reason" or 受理 means "acceptance."

Career

2014 to 2015: Amorecarina

Before joining XGALX and XG, Juria had a different stage name and was part of a local idol group called Amorecarina. The group was formed by Good Choice Entertainment in 2012 and had three sub-units based in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya. Juria joined the Tokyo sub-unit in 2014 and performed with them for about a year. She also participated in a duo project called Juri♡Puri with another member. She decided to graduate from Amorecarina on September 30, 2015, to pursue other opportunities. The group continued without her until 2018 when the Tokyo sub-unit disbanded due to lack of popularity. The other sub-units followed suit in the next few years, with Osaka disbanding in 2019 and Nagoya disbanding in 2021.

2015 to 2017: Avex Artist Academy

Juria attended Avex Artist Academy Tokyo as a special student after graduating from Amorecarina on September 30, 2015. She was still training at Avex Artist Academy until at least 2017. She was also part of a girl group named "Shorty!" that was formed by Avex Artist Academy students with outstanding skills.

2017 to Present:

After graduating from Amorecarina, Juria pursued her musical dreams by becoming a special student at Avex Artist Academy Tokyo, where she honed her vocal skills and learned from professional instructors. She then caught the attention of XGALX, a global entertainment company that was scouting for talented trainees to form a new girl group. Juria joined XGALX and trained hard to prepare for her debut. She was the sixth member of the group, named XG, to be officially announced to the public. Her reveal took place on February 3, 2022, through a teaser video that showcased her stunning visuals and powerful voice.

2022: Debut with XG

She made her debut with XG on March 18, 2022, with their 1st single "Tippy Toes." She is one of the main vocalists of XG, a global girl group under XGALX and AVEX. She was the sixth member of XG to be revealed. She was revealed on February 3, 2022. She performed with XG on various music shows such as M Countdown, Music Bank, Show! Music Core, Simply K-Pop, and Inkigayo.
