Justyna Zander is a Polish–German–American[1][2] computer scientist and engineer who worked on autonomous vehicle technology and researched artificial intelligence[3] and computing.[4][5]

Early life and education[edit]

Zander grew up in Poland,[6] then relocated to Germany, and finally to the United States.

Zander studied at Gdańsk University of Technology in Poland, earning a B.S. in Environmental Protection and Management. Next, she finished master studies in Computer Science on University of Applied Sciences in Elblag, Poland. At Technical University Berlin,[7] she earned a PhD in computer science and electrical engineering. She also attended Gdańsk University of Technology before becoming doing postdoctoral research at Harvard University.[8]

She participated in a program at the Singularity University in San Francisco in 2009.[9][10]

Career[edit]

Zander worked at Nvidia[11] as Global Head of Mapping and Autonomous Driving and Senior Automotive Product Manager.[citation needed] Zander has published books on computational systems.[12] Listed on Business Insider's annual list of the Most Powerful Women Engineers in 2018, she was recognized for her success in the male-dominated fields of artificial intelligence and computer engineering.[4]

Awards[edit]

In 2009, Zander received Fraunhofer Prof.x2 Fellowship for "outstanding and experienced senior scientists".[13]

In 2014, she was honored with the Leadership Award from the Society for Modeling & Simulation International while serving as general chair of the Summer Simulation Multi-Conference.[14][15]

In 2017, she won the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Emerging Leaders Award.[4] In 2023, she won the Global Leadership Award "for unparalleled technical expertise and leadership" and the Patent Recognition Award from the SWE.[14][16]
