K.A. Devassy (December 24, 1947 – March 5,2008) was a man of many talents and interests. He was the fourth of eight children of Arulappan and Annakutty. Although he studied up to the 8th standard, he had a great interest in literature, drama, and discussion of great ideas and thoughts. He was an avid reader and a great listener.

One of Devassy's passions was drama, and he often played the central role in "Chavittu Nadakam," a highly colorful Latin Christian art form originating in Ernakulam district, Kerala State in India. He was a hard

worker who knew all the trades and worked his best for the family. He was the last word when it came to decision-making, and everyone in the family was both afraid of him and equally loved him.

Devassy was also a master fisherman and knew all forms of fishing. He was also fond of various other forms of "veeshu" and had gone to collect shrimps, fished in boats, and was a master fisher. He was an excellent singer and footballer, which opened him the way to the Kerala Police Department. However, he couldn't make it due to his fragile body with poor nutrition.

In one of the hardest times, Devassy even went to the seashore and took a big rock, broke it by himself with a hammer the whole day into small metals, carried it in a sack on the back of his shoulder, and sold it to shops to bring food to the family. He was a great leader with excellent leadership skills and was the first president of the Fisherman Federation in Kandakkadavu. He was also involved in active local politics, a great friend of the parish priests, and had gone to bail out many people from the police station. He was also very courageous to conduct protests and strikes.

Devassy was a man who dedicated his whole life to his family. He looked after his father and mother very well and was against all forms of superstitions that were prevalent in those times. He also liked to drink local toddy. He loved Christmas and was known for creating beautiful Christmas lanterns and bringing his eldest grandson from Christmas carols back home.

Despite being a busy man, Devassy always found time for his family. He would often take them on outings to the nearby places and regale them with stories from his past. He was a great storyteller and had a way of capturing his listeners' attention.

Devassy's life serves as an inspiration to many, a testament to the power of hard work, determination, and family values. He believed in honesty, hard work and self-sufficiency. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and ensure they never lacked anything. He was a great provider, a loving husband and a devoted father. He instilled in his children the importance of education and taught them the value of money.

His death was a great loss to his family and the community. His memory lives on through his children, grandchildren, and the people he touched during his lifetime. His life serves as a reminder that no matter what challenges we face in life, we can overcome them with determination, hard work, and a strong belief in ourselves. He was truly a legend, a man who touched the hearts and minds of all those who knew him, leaving behind a lasting impact that will be felt for generations to come.
