K11 MUSEA is a proposed museum-retail complex located in Tsim Sha Tsui promenade front within the Victoria Dockside development, Hong Kong.[1][2] K11 MUSEA is expected to be an international art, culture, and retail hub. The project is being developed by the K11 Group, part of New World Development, and is scheduled to be completed in 2019.[3][4]

Background

K11 MUSEA was conceived by the K11 Group and its founder Adrian Cheng.[5] The museum-retail complex will be located in the Tsim Sha Tsui harbor, and will form part of the Victoria Dockside project.[6][7] Developers say K11 MUSEA’s name derives from “A Muse by the Sea”. They also said that the complex will include a public art collection and is set to be completed by 2019. The project aims to foster art, culture, and design in Hong Kong.[8][9]

Architecture

The K11 MUSEA building is expected to have ten floors and an outdoor plaza. The project's architects include James Corner (James Corner Field Operations) and Forth Bagley (Kohn Pederson Fox). K11 MUSEA is believed to include a 2,000 square-foot outdoors Sunken Plaza modelled as an amphitheater.[10] The architecture is also expected to include 50,000 square feet of green walls. The developers claim it received certifications of the U.S. LEED (Gold) and the Hong Kong BEAM Plus (Gold). They further claim that the development will include rainwater harvesting and that interior parts of the building will be made in part of natural limestone and wood.[11][12][13]
