KDnuggets (KD = "Knowledge Discovery") is an online site covering news and tutorials on Artificial Intelligence, analytics, Big Data, data mining, data science, and machine learning. Founded in 1997 by Gregory Piatetsky-Shapiro, KDnuggets has received numerous awards in the field with a current social media audience of over 152,000 @KDnuggets Twitter and 27,000 @KDnuggets Facebook followers as well as over 46,000 members of the KDnuggets Machine Learning, Data Science, Data Mining, Big Data, AI LinkedIn group. History[edit]

In 1993, Piatetsky-Shapiro started KDnuggets (Knowledge Discovery Nuggets) as a newsletter to connect researchers who attended the KDD-93 workshop. With the emergence of the Internet and Mosaic, Chris Matheus and he created the website Knowledge Discovery Mine hosted at GTE Labs. The newsletter served as an unofficial publication of KDD workshops. When Piatetsky-Shapiro left GTE Labs, he created the KDnuggets website with the mission of covering the field with short, concise "nuggets". The resource started as a directory for the subjects of data mining and data science, including software, jobs, academic positions, CFP (calls for papers), companies, courses, datasets, education, meetings, publications, and webcasts.

As a news and educational source, KDnuggets has globally impacted the data science field. Having led top industry conferences (reference?) and been at the forefront of cultural trends,[2] KDnuggets has published over 10,000 news articles, tutorials, and leading opinions in the fields of data science and machine learning.
