Demetrius Kendrick (born October 16, 1995) known professionally as KFP Ken is an American Rapper, actor, and film director. He is more than a rising talent; with his captivating personality, live instrument skills, unique delivery and vocal adaptability, he is the true definition of an artist. Ken is known to work hands on with his clients whether it's behind the camera, behind the boards, or just a helpful ear when needed. Early music has surfaced with two collaboration projects featuring artists signed to his label Soufside Records. Although not officially announced, it is expected that Ken will drop his anticipated first solo tape entitled "Self Control" before the end of 2018.
Early life
As a young child, Kendrick expressed his love of music and production when he joined the school band. His elementary school band instructor played trumpet, so he wanted to follow suit. The assigned trumpets were already taken by established members, so Kendrick had only one choice: joining the percussionists. Through the years in band he would learn music theory, performance etiquette and teamwork. After marching in high school for 3 years, he was offered many full paid scholarships to universities but ultimately declined and enrolled into Georgia State University.
Career
2012–2013: Career beginnings and Interning
In 2013, Ken interned at 11th Street studios in downtown Atlanta as a mixing engineer under Edward Nixon (mixing engineer of the j.u.s.t.i.c.e league) and studio owner Steve Fisher. Ken claims that he did not benefit from the internship due to stress from an unpaid job, lack of studio time and slow lessons. He left after 8 months of interning, but it shows that Ken has obtained studio etiquette and a drive to not quit once a door is shut.
2014–2016: K Factory Productions, Fist Fight, and Soufside Records
In 2014, after a year into his college career at Georgia State University, he joined forces with Kameron Jones to begin building their own clientele for media and production needs under K Factory Productions. Around this time he would pick up the camera again, and began a career in film-making. He has been spotted with established artists such as Kevin Gates, The Game, Skooly, 2 Chainz, Cyhi the Prince, Bambi, Street Bud, Miss Mulatto, Yung Mazi, Sonny Digital, Gunna, Future, Blac Youngsta, Travis Porter, Bandgang and many more.
In 2015 Kendrick was featured in film Fist Fight starring Charlie Day and Ice Cube as a soundtrack artist and featured extra.
2017–present: KFP Ken
In early 2018, a serious head-on collision resulted in KFP Ken's hospitalization for more than a week facing injuries including a broken rib cage, excruciating mouth injuries, forehead and chin stitching, and a fractured arm. He has recently began posting new music and videos and is sure to come back better than before.
