Kentrell Dariel Wright (born April 11, 1995), better known by his stage name KT Rasta, is an :American hip hop Recording Artist and Songwriter from Chicago, Illinois raised in the same neighborhood as fellow rappers Lil Durk and Famous Dex. He is best known for his song "Cuttin Up (Remix)", that gained notoriety in the local night clubs and urban areas of Chicago. On September 14, 2013, Wright was arrested on Criminal Charges of Armed Robbery, :Conspiracy, and Reckless Conduct. Charges were later dropped by a Cook County Judge due to lack of evidence. He began to take his rap career serious after gaining a "Second Chance at Life".

Early Life

Kentrell Dariel Wright was born on April 11, 1995, in Chicago, Illinois; the second oldest of four children. Raised on the southside streets of the Englewood neighborhood, Wright found himself surrounded by drugs, guns, and violence at a young age. In 2009 he would attend Simeon Career Academy, a high school on the city's southside most notable for alumni's and current NBA Players Derrick Rose and Jabari Parker. During his time in school, Rasta would find himself roaming the hallways and skipping class. He stated that even though he was once an Honor Roll student, once he got to high school his grades began to drop as a result of him not being focused on classwork and more on money, women, and things such as sports.

Career

KT Rasta began participating in rap battles while still in High school. He would often skip class to do them in the cafeteria, hallways, and in locker rooms. Soon his love for music became an everyday part of his lifestyle with friends and family encouraging him to start recording his freestyles over instrumentals. After releasing multiple music videos, Rasta would drop his biggest video up to date "Cuttin Up (Remix)", with it hitting ten-thousands of views across the web in the first days. The song began buzzing throughout the city of Chicago and would later be spun in different night clubs from the local DJ's.

Musical Influences

As a kid, KT Rasta was inspired by Tupac, Notorious B.I.G, Mary J.Blige, Phil Collins, Eminem, Mystikal, :Juvenile, Michael Jackson, Snoop Dogg, Nas, Aaliyah, and Ludacris. Some of his favorite rappers in today's Era are Ace Hood, :The Game, Gucci Mane, Lil Durk, Lil Wayne, Meek Mill, Drake, Future, Young Thug, Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, Waka Flocka, Migos, and Wiz Khalifa. Rasta also claims to have been inspired by the work ethics of Moguls such as Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, P.Diddy, Steve Jobs, Jimmy Lovine, and Michael Jordan.

While attending Simeon Highschool, KT Rasta played Football, Wrestling, and Track & Field but would began to pursue his passion of being a Proffesional Football Player, with hopes of making it to the NFL. After sustaining a knee injury during practice in the summer of 2011, KT Rasta would soon turn to rapping as a hobby during his free time.

Legal Issues

In the winter of 2013, KT Rasta faced legal trouble after being held as a suspect during a case where an off-duty police officer watched someone attack and rob a civilian on the Blue Line Train station in Chicago, Illinois. After spending three days in jail, he would be released on bond and scheduled to appear in Court two months later where the charges were dropped due to lack of evidence by detectives and after the victim never showed up to testify.
