Ka Wee Teong (born 28 June 2001), known professionally as WEE, is a Malaysian filmmaker, musician, and content creator.

Early Life and Education

WEE was born on 28 June 2001 into a Malaysian Chinese family with Singapore Permanent Residency (PR), he was raised in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. From a young age, he developed an interest in visual arts and creative media.

Between 2017 and 2019, WEE studied Fine Art at Kluang Chong Hwa High School, where he developed his foundation in traditional art and visual expression.

In 2022, WEE relocated to Auckland, New Zealand, to pursue higher education at Media Design School. He completed a Bachelor of Art in 3D Animation and Visual Effects (VFX), graduating in 2025. After graduated, he expanded his creative practice into filmmaking and digital media production.

Career

YouTube

WEE launched WEE'sLIFE Channel in 2016, inspired by creators such as Casey Neistat and Rory Kramer. He initially produced vlog-style videos documenting different stages of his personal life, travels, and creative journey. As the channel evolved, his content direction shifted under the influence of several Malaysian YouTubers, expanding beyond traditional daily vlogs into entertainment-focused videos and challenge content.

On 8 December 2018, WEE uploaded the video Unbox the $2k USD Deep Web Mystery Box, which became the most-viewed video on his channel. The video has accumulated more than 800,000 views on YouTube and marked a significant milestone in the growth of his online audience.

In August 2022, WEE relocated to Auckland, New Zealand, as an international student. Since then, his YouTube content has primarily documented his experiences living in New Zealand, student life, filmmaking, and his development as a creative professional.

In July 2024, WEE launched 18353KM, an eight-episode cinematic travel vlog series documenting his first trip to Germany. Named after the approximate distance between New Zealand and Germany, the series followed his journey visiting his partner, Leonie Mimus, her family, and the places where she grew up, while exploring themes of long-distance relationships, travel, and cultural experiences. The first episode was released in July 2024, with the final episode released in September 2024.

Music

WEE released his debut single, 28 WEEKS, on 10 January 2020. Drawing influence from artists such as Lil Peep, Machine Gun Kelly (MGK), and nothing,nowhere., his early music blended elements of emo rap, alternative hip hop, and pop punk.

On 23 April 2021, he released his debut album, BEDTIME STORIES FOR ADULT, which explored themes of mental health, relationships, and personal struggles. In the following years, WEE continued to release independent music projects, including the EP OLD WOUNDS. The project featured the single Like It Always, a collaboration with Malaysian hip hop artist thewickedboy.

On 5 May 2024, WEE released his debut studio album, PNG (Pain Never Go), which marked a significant milestone in his music career. The album's track War In My Head received airplay on Auckland radio station 95bFM, introducing his music to a wider New Zealand audience.

Following PNG, WEE released the three-track EP FAR, which showcased a more experimental and genre-defying sound, representing a new direction in his musical style and artistic identity.

Later that year, WEE released the single Taman Desa Tebrau, inspired by the neighbourhood in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, where he spent his childhood. The song reflects on nostalgia, distance, and the experience of returning home after years abroad. The release also led to WEE's first radio interview with Auckland station 95bFM, where he discussed the song and his artistic journey.

Short Films

Throughout his work as a YouTuber and musician, WEE has cited filmmaking as his long-term creative goal, with a particular interest in the horror genre. As a first step toward a career in feature filmmaking, he began producing independent horror short films.

STUCK (2024)

WEE self-funded, wrote, produced, directed, and edited his debut short film, STUCK, which was released in September 2024. The film marked his transition from online content creation and music into narrative filmmaking.

His second short film, Silent Witness, was released in March 2026. He later announced The Leaked Tape, a 15-minute found footage horror film scheduled for release in December 2026.

Personal life

Shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic, WEE enlisted in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). In June 2020, during his military service, he spent ten days in a detention barracks following a disciplinary offence. After his release, he was diagnosed with acute stress disorder and mild depression, and underwent therapy over the following two years.

Since February 2023, WEE has been in a relationship with German makeup artist Leonie Mimus.
