Kaalaippani is a 2008 Indian feature film made in Tamil-language and directed by debutant Rajesh Selva and produced by K.A.Nethaji Balu, starring Jay Srinivasa Kumar, Vasundhara Kashyap and Nassar along with a bunch of newcomers.
The film also introduced Sathish Ramalingam and Gopi Jagadeeshwaran as music director and cinematographer respectively.

Critical reception
Kollywood Today appreciated the film calling it a well-delivered murder mystery and "It makes one feel watching a thriller with partial traces of Hollywood."[1] Ayngnaran wrote that "Director Rajesh Selva has very well applied his paper work on the screen and that’s nice for Kollywood to have a new director like him".[2] Nowrunning also praised the film saying "The new director Rajesh Selva deserves praise for maintaining the suspense till the very end" [3]
