Kai “Verse” Tyler (born August 8,1980) is an American music executive who has also gone by the names “Cloth” or “Verse”.

Early Life[edit]

Kai Tyler was born in Atlanta, GA and raised in Newark, New Jersey grew up an only child in South Orange, New Jersey where his affliction for music was developed at home where his mother played groups like The Temptations . His first experience in music came as a saxophone player , he would study and play Kenny G’s Duotones ; that passion matured and by the eighth grade he started a DJ collective with DJ Naim . During his teenage years he was fortunate to have relationships that allowed him to meet Sean “Puffy” Combs and spend summers at the Bad Boy Records headquarters. Around the same time he was introduced to Diamond D who tutored him on song structure and developed his artistry even further. He went on to attend Columbia High School a prominent school in a New Jersey suburb with classmates and alumni such as Lauryn Hill and SZA . This allowed him to develop with like minded creatives and build relationships. He earned a 3.7 GPA and would attend Cornell University for a semester and transferred to Five Towns College where he studied the business of music.

Career[edit]

Kai first interned at Motown and would get his first start after being given an opportunity from his mentor Bernard Alexander and his partner Walter Milsap managing Mindless Behavior . In 2011 he brokered a deal with with 2K and Cyhi The Prince for his single “Sideways”[1] he then went on to develop the 2K Beats division and consulted gaming giant Take Two . He would go on to form Thee Luxury Group a full-service management, marketing, public relations, music publishing, and entertainment company. His company hosts multiple producers and songwriters , In 2020 his company helped sell 9 million copies of AnuelAAs “EMMANUEL”[2] , Polo Gs platinum single “Three Headed Goat” [3] his collective would also receive Grammy nominations including on for Lil Baby’s “MyTurn”[4] and to date he has been apart more than 15 million records being sold .
