Kaique Kauan De Morais Alves (born 12 December 2002) is a Brazilian competitive swimmer. At the 2021 World Short Course Championships he won a bronze medal as part of the 4×200 metre freestyle relay. He competes collegiately for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Background
Alves was born on 12 December 2002 and calls São Paulo, Brazil his hometown.[1][3] He started attending the University of Alabama in 2021, where he is majoring in economics and competes collegiately as part of the Alabama Crimson Tide swim team.[1]

At the 2021 World Short Course Championships, held at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates in December, Alves started competition on day one, swimming a 47.13 in the prelims heats of the 4×100 metre freestyle relay to help qualify the relay to the final ranking fifth.[4] In the final, the relay was disqualified.[5] For his second and final event of the Championships, the 4×200 metre freestyle relay on day four of competition, he split a 1:44.38 for the third leg of the relay in the prelims heats and qualified the relay to the final ranking third with relay teammates Breno Correia, Murilo Sartori, and Leonardo Coelho Santos.[6] He won a bronze medal as part of the finals relay, on which Fernando Scheffer substituted in for Leonardo Coelho Santos, swimming the third leg of the relay in 1:43.15 to help achieve a time of 6:49.60.[7][8] The Brazilian finals relay, composed of Alves, Murilo Sartori, Fernando Scheffer and Breno Correia, maintained the good performance of the country at the 2018 Championships, when the Brazil relay team won the gold medal in a new world record time.[9][10]
2022 Southeastern Conference Championships
On the first day of his first collegiate conference championships meet competing for the Alabama Crimson Tide, the 2022 Southeastern Conference Championships, Alves helped achieve a fourth-place finish in the 4×200 yard freestyle relay in 6:14.94, swimming a 1:33.28 for the lead-off leg of the relay.[11] The following day, he placed 27th in the 50 yard freestyle with a personal best time of 19.92 seconds.[12] Day three of competition, he ranked sixth in the prelims heats of the 200 yard freestyle with a 1:33.65, 0.16 seconds slower than fifth-ranked Brooks Curry.[13] In the final, Alves lowered his time to a 1:33.33 to placed sixth, finishing 2.17 seconds behind first-place finisher Matthew Sates.[14] For the fifth and final day, Alves started his competition in the prelims heats of the 100 yard freestyle, advancing to the final ranking seventh with a time of 42.60 seconds in the morning prelims heats.[15] In the evening finals session, he placed eighth, finishing 1.94 seconds behind first-place finisher Brooks Curry with his time of 42.93 seconds.[16][17] To complete the session, he split a 42.60 for the lead-off leg of the 4×100 yard freestyle relay, helping achieve a third-place finish with a final time of 2:49.11.[16]
2022 NCAA Championships
Starting off the 2022 NCAA Championships on the first day of competition, 23 March 2022, Alves split a 1:32.47 for the third leg of the 4×200 yard freestyle relay to help achieve a sixteenth-place finish in 6:16.19.[18] Concluding competition on the fourth and final day, he helped the Alabama 4×100 yard freestyle relay place fourteenth in 2:49.16, swimming a personal best time of 42.52 for the lead-off leg of the relay.[18]
