Kaitlyn Tarpey, (born December 28, 1991) is an American beauty pageant titleholder who was named Miss Connecticut 2013.[1][2]

Biography[edit]

She won the title of Miss Connecticut on June 22, 2013, when she was crowned by outgoing titleholder Emily Audibert.[3] Tarpey’s platform is “Our Time To Serve: Hiring and Housing Our Veterans” and she said she hoped to become an advocate for returning war veterans during her year as Miss Connecticut.[4][5] Her competition talent was an Irish Step Dancing routine.[6][7]

Tarpey is a senior at Pace University, majoring in professional studies communication.[8] She suffers from Lemierre's syndrome.[9]

Tarpey competed at the Miss America 2014 pageant where she made the top 10.[10][11]

There was speculation after the Miss America pageant that she had inspired Caitlyn Jenner's choice of name.[12][13] Jenner was said to be inspired by Tarpey's empowering phrase, "Chin up, boobs up, and rock it".[12][14]
