Kalax is a synthwave artist composed of Liverpool based producer, Lee Blanshard.

Lee has a background as a vocalist and bass player in several metal/alternative bands since 2006, he has produced electronic music inspired by 80s movies like The NeverEnding Story, The Flight Of The Navigator and Legend. He uses a variety of software retro synths in his productions. Since his debut EP Journey (2013) he has released two EP's and two full-length albums the latest of which is Kalax (Self-titled) and has performed several live shows. Several of his tracks will also be featured in the 2018 Documentary ROBODOC. A Robocop Documentary.

Kalax released his second full-length album Kalax on 10 April 2017 on a range of formats including Digibook CD, vinyl, and cassette tape. The album was met with generally positive reviews, with 'New Retro Wave' writing in praise of it. Giving it a top 10 album of the year 2017, and top 10 artists of the year 2017. The vinyl version of the album also included a bonus track from his debut EP 'Journey'.

Kal became interested in music in part due to the influence of his mother's cassette and vinyl collection, His father was also in a band as a singer in the 80s and performed all over the UK. That's how his parents met. Kal grew up heavily on 80s music and film.
