Kalitta Charters Flight 724 registration N720CK[1], was an American domestic flight operated by Kalitta Charters using a Boeing 727-200F Advanced.[2] The aircraft took off from Willow Run Airport on 30th of May, 2016 at 9:12am PDT.[3] At 1:34am PDT, the airliner landed at Chino Airport.[4] After landing, the crew started to taxi to the non-movement section of Chino Airport. While taxiing to the non-movement section of the airport, Kalitta Charters 724 collided with another stationary Boeing 727 aircraft on the ground.[5] There was substantial damage to the body of both Boeing 727s. Kalitta Charters Boeing 727 would later be repaired and put into service.[6] The other Boeing 727’s condition is unknown.
Accident
The aircraft took off from Willow Run Airport on 30th of May, 2016 at 9:12am PDT.[7] At 1:34am PDT, the airliner landed at Chino Airport.[8] After landing, the crew started to taxi to the non-movement section of Chino Airport.[9] While taxiing to the non-movement section of the airport, Kalitta Charters 724 collided with another stationary Boeing 727 aircraft on the ground. There was substantial damage to the fuselage of both Boeing 727s. Kalitta Charters Boeing 727 would later be repaired and put back into service.[10] The other Boeing 727’s condition is unknown.
Victims
The Kalitta Charters 727 had 3 crew on board. All of them survived. All of the crew on the other 727 also survived. No injuries were reported.[11]
Aircraft
The aircraft involved in the crash was a Boeing 727-200F Advanced registered as N720CK with serial number 21298[12]. The aircraft first took flight in 1977.[13] The aircraft would later be repaired and put back into service. Later on the same aircraft would suffer another accident.[14] In February of 2019 Kalitta Charters Flight 720 (The same aircraft) would land in Tuscaloosa Regional Airport and have a nose landing gear failure while landing.[15]
