Kaltarang, a majestic 3 days annual cultural fest of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology,recognized as one of the greatest pomp youth festival in India. It is held in the beginning of march every year. It is a student-run non profit organization. With themes of thrill and adventure, kaltarang embodies the spirit of life. Apart from amusement, this giant occasion brings to the students, a chance to explore the world of passion. Kaltarang sees participation from a large number of students from over 60 colleges all over UP making it one of the most exuberant and biggest fest in North central region. Participants, often acclaim these eventful days as one of the most memorable moments of their youth and herein lay the real beauty and splendor of kaltarang. In the past , international celebrity Miss Tara and some national celebrity including Gajendra Verma, Aditya Narayan and many more have come and been a part of the events in this festival. Performers like have performed in events here to entertain the crowd. Bands like “The Astitva” and “The Local Train” have come to perform here in musical events. Kaltarang has attracted major sponsors and extensive media coverage over the years.

History

Kaltarang is a non-profit organization run completely by the students of RGIPT. The fest was formally started in 2011 as “The seven shades of college life”, by the group of individuals with a vision to deliver more and showcase what they are capable of.

The focus of the festival being to promote interest in cultural and literary activities and to develop the organizational skills of the students. The fest has gone on to become an integral part of the state culture of Uttar Pradesh. Kaltarang 2k17 showcased a 4’ high and 7’ long gigantic structure of the titanic ship and a well -crafted effigy of Marilyn Munroe.

Pronites

Kaltarang has been very popular for its pro-shows. They are the most anticipated and most awaited part of kaltarang .It features well known national and international artists from various fields of music like Rock ,Sufi , Classical and Bollywood. Kaltarang 2k17 was graced by famous artists: Gajendra verma, Aditya Narayan and adorned EDM night with international star Miss Tara. Bands like “The Astitva”and “The local trains”have come to perform here in musical events. Kaltarang 2k17 featured interactive session with MTV BEATS.
