Kamome Shirahama (Japanese: 白浜鴎, Hepburn: Shirahama Kamome) is a Japanese mangaka and comics artist. She is a graduate of the Tokyo University of the Arts, from the faculty of design. Although she first intended on pursuing film,[1] she ultimately decided to launch a freelance art career as well as a manga career following her graduation.[2] She is best known for her manga series Witch Hat Atelier, which had 3.5 million copies in circulation as of April 2022.[3] Shirahama has illustrated 24 variant covers for various DC Comics releases[4] and 9 variant covers for various Marvel releases,[5] some of which being highly sought-after.[6] She is credited for character design in both Japanese and Western TV productions.[7][8]

Shirahama's recent works have garnered critical acclaim. Jérôme Briot of ZOO magazine praised Enidevi (Eniale & Dewiela)'s "swirling graphics and rare elegance", citing Shirahama's continuous inspirations from Alphone Mucha-esque Art Nouveau style.[9] Her ongoing series Witch Hat Atelier won an Eisner Award in 2020 for Best U.S. Edition of International Material (Asia),[10] and a Harvey Award for Best Manga of 2020.[11]
