Dr. Md. Amirul Islam also known as Kanak Amirul Islam (1979 – ) is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Folklore in the Faculty of Social Sciences at Bangladesh’s University of Rajshahi (RU). Kanak Amirul Islam has published several books, papers in peer-reviewed Journals, and chapters in books, and participated in various forums on folk culture, history, literature, and philosophy. He also presented various academic and research-based papers and participated as a resource person at several national and international conferences. He is a social activist and protests against national and international issues.[1].
Early life
Kanak Amirul Islam was born in Gurudaspur Upazila at Natore District in 1979.
Education and early career
Kanak Amirul Islam passed the SSC examination from Khubjipur BL High School in 1995. He then passed HSC from Khubjipur MH Degree College in 1997. Kanak Amirul Islam earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in Folklore from the University of Rajshahi. Later, he earned his PhD in Folklore from the same university. He was one of the compilers of the Bangla Academy Bibartanmulak Bangla Avidhan, Part.1, 2 & 3, Bangla academy, Dhaka. He joined as a faculty member of the University of Rajshahi in 2013[2]. He has taught in the Department of Folklore at the University of Rajshahi for years [3].
Marriage and children
Kanak Amirul Islam married Lovely Islam in 2004. They together have a daughter, Adrija Anadil Kimti, and a son, Aritra Kanad Epithany.
