Kanakathidam
Kanakathidam is an aristocratic SAMANTHA KSHATHRIYA family of North Malabar, Edam has its origin from CHOZHALI SWAROOPAM, the first and foremost Samantha group in CHERAMAN PERUMALS'S period. In the erstwhile ZAMINDARI pattern of society CHOZHALI SWAROOPAM had a vast area of jurisdiction and wealth.
Kanakathidam - a branch of CHOZHALI SWAROOPAM inhabited the eastern part of Irrity possessing an abundant area of properties both agricultural land and hills. 10,000 acres (40 km2) of land was acquired by the government of India for starting ARALAM FARM from the family later.
Kanakathidam had so many reputed temples of their own, SREE Mundayamparambu Temple is most famous among them.
