Prof. v.h. Karine Sargsyan, MD, is Managing Director for International Biobanking and Education (since 2019), Vice Scientific Leader.[1], and Lecturer of M.Sc. Biobanking [2] (since 2016) and University Course Artificial Intelligence in Medicine at the Medical University of Graz (start 2022). Previously, she was founding Managing Director of Biobank Graz (MedUni Graz) and directed it from 2007 to 2019 [3]. Karine was Scientific Director of Competence Center BioPersMed [4] [5] (2009-2011). Her activities show a range from interdisciplinary research, research policy, international research, research organization-management-policy, grant management, clinical research, quality and risk management (particularly in the grant-driven environment) to digitalization (including AI and ML) in life sciences, particularly in medicine [6] [7] [8]. She works with several scientific sites (ACC - ILCEC: Oncology Research Vietnam, Qatar Biobank, German Space Agency, Russian Radiology and Oncology Organisations (NMRCC), MoHs, DDZ, BBMRI-ERIC, Russian Biobanking association, DLR, etc.)[9] [10] [11]and is focused on scientific education (from kindergarten to adult and retraining possibilities) and specifically in innovative technology [12] [13] [14].
She works on futuristic ideas for long-term changes in health and society [15] [16] [17] [17] [18] [19]. Overall, grant-management – more than 100 Mio Euro [1].
Prof. Sargsyan Was born in Vanadzor, Armenia, and lives in Graz, Austria. Married; has a daughter -Astghik Kyurumyan (MENSA member, TED speaker) [20] [21]. She is committed to various voluntary activities [22] [23] , is TEDx Speaker and Organizer [24].
She was granted "Honor Professor" status at her Alma Mater YSMU, where she graduated as a pediatrician and still lecturing at the department of medical genetics [25]
