Karl Reuschle

Karl Reuschle, also known as Carl Reuschle, (14 March 1847 - 16 August 1909) was a German mathematician.

Life and work[edit]

Reuschle was born in Stuttgart to the mathematician Karl Gustav Reuschle. He attended a gymnasium there from 1856 to 1864, going on to study mathematics and chemistry at the University of Stuttgart until 1870, and subsequently moving onto the University of Tübingen. After passing a teacher's exam in 1871, he became a repetitor and assistant at the University of Stuttgart, becoming an associate professor there in 1872 while also working as an assistant secondary school teacher.

In 1881, he received his Ph.D. in mathematics at the University of Tubingen under Friedrich Eduard Reusch [de] and Paul du Bois-Reymond with his work in descriptive geometry entitled Die Deck-Elemente: Ein Beitrag zur descriptiven Geometrie Mit der Arbeit. In 1893, he became a full professor at the University of Stuttgart. He was an Invited Speaker of the ICM in 1897 in Zürich.

He died in 1909 in Heiden, Appenzell Ausserrhoden.
