The Isabella and Jerome Karle Symposium an annual one-day academic conference organized by graduate students at the University of Michigan.[1] Named after Michigan alums Isabella and Jerome Karle, the symposium and features research from the Department of Chemistry, as well as from an external invited keynote speaker and an industrial plenary speaker.[2] The symposium is currently sponsored by College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, PPG Industries, Dow Chemical Company, and DuPont.[3]

History[edit]

The symposium began as Perspectives on Chemistry Research at the University of Michigan (PECRUM) in 2003, and in 2008 was renamed the Victor Vaughan Symposium.[4] In 2015 it was renamed again to the Karle Symposium.
