Karyna Shuliak (born May 31, 1989), sometimes romanized as Karina and/or Shulyak, is a Belarusian born dentist. Shuliak is a former partner of Jeffrey Epstein and was named in Epstein's trust as a beneficiary. Shuliak is a Doctor of Dental Surgery and has a license to practice in New York.

Early Life and Education

Shuliak was born May 31, 1989 in the village of Valerianovo in the Minsk Region of Byelorussian SSR.[1] Shuliak graduated high school from Minsk Municipal Professional Lyceum No. 2.[2]

Shuliak was a student of the Belarusian State Medical University[3] from 2006 to 2010.[4] Shuliak enrolled to Columbia University College of Dental Medicine (CDM) on February 6, 2012 and graduated in 2015. Shuliak is a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS).[5][6] Shuliak graduated from a postdoctoral dentistry program in May 2025. After graduating, Shuliak pursued studies at the Morningside Heights institution. Shuliak completed a residency in advanced education in general dentistry in Spring 2025, which CDM describes as a way designed to prepare dentists to practice independently.[7]

Admission to CDM

Shuliak had not completed her studies at Belarusian State University, which made the admission to Columbia University's College of Dental Medicine (CDM) complicated. Shuliak had applied to CDM earlier in 2012 but was rejected. Jeffrey Epstein made a $100,000 donation to a public health project, run by Dr. Ira Lamster, dean of CDM. In 2014 Epstein donated $50,000 to CDM's annual fund. Shuliak went to CDM to study advanced education in general dentistry.[8][9]

CDM later announced they were cutting ties with Dr. Thomas Magnani, an admissions review committee member, along with Letty Moss-Salentijn, a professor of Dental Medicine. CDM also said they would donate the $210,000 Epstein gave them to two non-profit organizations supporting survivors of human trafficking and sexual abuse.[10]

Association with Jeffrey Epstein

Shuliak moved to New York in August 2009. Emails released by the Department of Justice imply Shuliak seems to have first met Jeffrey Epstein around Spring of 2011, introduced by a Russian woman.[4]

According to MailOnline, Shuliak earned the nickname "The Inspector" due to her jealousy and tendency to monitor Epstein's contacts. In a podcast interview by The Daily Beast, Michael Wolff claimed Shuliak was absolutely silent when he visited Epstein's home.[11]

Epstein helped Shuliak's parents, Fedor and Tatiana Shuliak. He gave them tens of thousands of dollars and the couple moved into a "high-end apartment." Epstein also paid for Tatiana's medical treatment for a tumor in New York in 2013.[8] Shuliak's parents visited the United States in 2012, 2017, and 2019, the 2019 visit being less than one month before Epstein's death.[12] Epstein applied for Belarusian visas in the mid 2010s and obtained one but never travelled to Belarus.[12][13]

Shuliak was the last person to speak to Epstein before his death via a phone call on August 9, 2019.[14][15] It lasted 20 minutes and wasn't recorded, the Bureau of Prisons said.[16]

Epstein lobbied his network of lawyers and businesspeople to secure Shuliak a residence permit. When that permit expired in 2013, Epstein suggested marrying a woman named Jennifer Kalin.[9]

Shuliak married Jennifer Kalin, a U.S. Citizen and former partner of Kimbal Musk, in 2013. Epstein had connected them. Many sources report the marriage was primarily so Shuliak could obtain American citizenship. Shuliak was granted a green card after the marriage, and American citizenship in 2018. Shuliak divorced Kalin in 2018. Shuliak had previously overstayed her student visa.[17][18]

Mention in Epstein's Will

In Epstein's Will, Shuliak was bequeathed $100,000,000, along with $50,000,000 annually for her benefit. Epstein also wanted to give Shuliak a $1,200,000 32.73-carat diamond ring "in contemplation of marriage,"[19] along with his Manhattan town house, apartment in Paris, Little St. James, Great St. James, and Zorro Ranch.[8] Epstein's estate has sold many of these properties already.[20][21]

Shuliak reportedly lives somewhere in New York City. Previous reports show she used to live at Epstein's townhouse in Manhattan. Shuliak was photographed walking on Fifth Avenue in New York City in 2023.[22] In February 2026, The Standard claimed Shuliak was living in an apartment in Manhattan owned by Epstein's brother Mark.[23]

A postdoctoral graduation video at CDM featuring Shuliak, along with some pictures of Shuliak, went viral on social media in 2025-2026.[24]

Shuliak previously owned a dentist practice where she worked on St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands.[23] Shuliak has a license to practice dentistry in New York.[7]
