Kashim Tumsah (born 16th April 1965) is a Nigerian Lawyer , Diplomat , Farmer , Development Advocate. Chairman, Gulf Consulting LLP, Avocado Investment International Limited, Alegre Integrated Farm And Resort Limited amongst many others and a recipient of the Member of the Federal Republic (MFR) national award.[1][2][3]
Background
Tumsah was born on 16th April, 1965. He attended Shehu Garbai Primary School, Maiduguri, and Kings College Lagos . He holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Maiduguri in 1988. A Nigerian Law School award holder, he was called to the Bar in 1989. A recipient of the prestigious Laslo Gambos Bursary Award from the Centre for Petroleum, Mineral Law Policy Studies and a scholarship from Fellowship and Commonwealth Office to study LL.M in any U.K University. He is a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators, AIPN and Energy Institute UK, Nigerian BAR Association , NBA, African Bar Association and International Bar Association.[4]
Career
Tumsah began his career as Company secretary to Rain (Nigeria) Limited (1992). He served as Legal Assistant to the Honorable Secretary of State for Petroleum And Mineral Resources (1993) and later joined the Foreign Service (1995). Special Assistant to the Director General, National Boundary Comission (2000-2002). Member/Secretary of the Nigerian Technical Committee on International Boundary Negotiations (1997-2002). Counsel and Secretary to the Nigerian legal/Expert team at the International Court of Justice in the Nigerian - Cameroon boundary dispute(2002). The pioneer Legal Adviser of the Nigeria - Sao Tome and Principe Joint Development Authority (JDA) (2002-2005) and subsequently the Executive Director Finance and Administration and Secretary of the Board and Joint Ministerial Council of the JDA (2010-2018). Executive Vice Chairman, Gulf of Guinea Consulting Ltd (2005-2010), Chairman, Gulf Consulting LLP (2018 to date), Chairman Avocado Investment International Limited (2022- date), Chairman, Alegre Integrated Farm And Resort ( 2013 to date), Director/ Project Coordinator, Dragon Oil and Gas Cote D'Ivore Block C1-24 Project (2018 to date), Non-Executive Director, NNPC Limited (2023-2025). He participated in several Petroleum and International Boundary dispute negotiations during his illustrious career. He is also a recognised resource person in Trans-boundary Resource Management.[5][6][7][8]
Personal Life
Kashim Tumsah is married to Zubaida Umar, and is blessed with children.[9]
