The Kashmir Premier League (Urdu: کشمیر پریمیئر لیگ; abbreviated KPL) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league and will contested every year by six teams representing five cities in Azad Kashmir and one team representing overseas Kashmiris. The league was founded 2021 with six teams. Arif Malik is the President and the Dreamer of Kashmir Premier League.[1] Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram joined it as its vice president. [2]
Each team playing matches in double round robin format; the top four teams with the best record qualify for the playoffs and culminates in the championship game, the KPL Cup Final. Kashmir Premier League is a T20 format league having credentials from Pakistan Cricket Board which is a permanent member of the International Cricket Council, Government of Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Government of Punjab Pakistan who have ensured their cooperation in this cause. Initially supposed to start from 16 May 2021, Pakistan Cricket Board alloted new time window for holding the inaugural edition of KPL- August 5-20, 2021 window- as 2021 Pakistan Super League is not yet complete.[3]
Anthem Song[edit]
Kashmir Premier League (KPL) official Anthem Song was released on 16 February, 2021 on YouTube[4] which was Directed by Shaan Shahid, Sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Many Pakistan film celebrities such as Juggun Kazim, Mehwish Hayat, Iman Ali, Ali Gul Pir, Neelam Muneer, and Ayesha Omar are brand ambassadors of Kashmir Premier League.[5] KPL has partnered with Shahid Afridi Foundation as charity organization.[6]

According to a KPL Official website[7], following are Teams of Kashmir Premier League. Each team will have five local Kashmiri players in the squad; they’ll play with Pakistan’s international stars in the first edition and then from second edition onwards, global stars will also join the KPL[8]
