Kathleen Teresa Scott (born May 13, 2000), known professionally as Kate Scott, is an American actress and filmmaker who is best known for her roles in The WB network show Charmed as Melinda Halliwell, and for voicing multiple characters in the revival of the Suspense CBS Radio and television series on Sirius XM..[1] She is also known for directing and producing short films and documentary projects with themes of family, sports, and community, including Rising Sun, Game Changer, #Disneyland60, and 1.
Early life and education[edit]
Kathleen Teresa Scott was born May 13, 2000, in Van Nuys, California. Her first acting role was in a commercial at 13 months old. She then took a break from acting for several years, returning to appear in 8 Simple Rules[2].
Scott was homeschooled until she graduated high school and started college at age 14. In 2017, she obtained an Associate of Arts degree in fine arts with honors from El Camino College in Torrance, CA. She then attended Grand Canyon University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government with an emphasis in Legal Studies. In 2022, at age 21, she completed a Master of Science degree in Organizational Leadership at Pepperdine University.[3]

Her first acting credits include roles in TV shows 8 Simple Rules, Charmed, Heroes, and $#*! My Dad Says.
In 2008, Scott appeared in the short film The Captain, directed by Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer and narrated by Allison Janney, which was a finalist for the REEL Poetry Award at the Chicago International Children's Film Festival.[4] In 2012, Scott would produce and act in the film Rising Sun.[5] Scott appeared in Way of Seeing, an official selection at the Academy Award-Qualifying LA Shorts Fest at the Laemmle Theater in 2012.
In 2014, Scott directed a documentary titled A.C. Green Leadership Basketball Camp Documentary on NBA Los Angeles Lakers champion A.C. Green. Scott also produced and starred in the short film Nobody’s Perfect the same year. As a result, she received nominations for "Best Sports Documentary" and "Best Young Filmmaker" at the Action On Film International Film Festival.[6] In 2015, Scott directed and appeared in the films Game Changer and #Disneyland60, for which she would win "Best Young Filmmaker" and "Best Documentary" at the Action On Film International Film Festival in Monrovia, CA.[6] Her work also led to a nomination for the 2016 Young Entertainer Awards at Universal Studios for "Best Leading Young Actress - Television Movie, Mini-Series, or Special."[7]
In 2016, Scott made her debut as a voice actress playing multiple characters in the CBS radio anthology revival, Suspense, which was nominated for multiple Peabody Awards.[1][8] Her appearances would earn her a nomination for "Best Young Actress - Voice Over Role" at the Young Entertainer Awards in 2017[9] and a win in the same category in 2018[10]. She would also be nominated for the "Best Performance in a Voice-Over Role - Teen Actress" category at the 2017 and 2018 Young Artist Awards[11][12]
At age 19, Scott was nominated for "Best Influencer" and was presented with the "Inspiration to Youth" merit award at the 40th annual Young Artist Academy Awards.[13] In 2020 and 2021, Scott returned to the Young Artist Academy's virtual award shows to present.[14][15][16]
