Kathleen Saxton
Kathleen Saxton (born 19 May 1972) is a British entrepreneur and psychotherapist. She is the founder and CEO of The Lighthouse Company,[1] co-founder of Advertising Week Europe [2] and works with a number of charitable causes.
Professional career[edit]
In 2009, Saxton set up The Lighthouse Company, a global headhunting firm with offices in London and New York. She had previously worked at Sky UK and was a Marketing Director at Saatchi & Saatchi. During an interview with Real Business in 2014,[3] she called upon the British government to give advice to businesses with a proven track record in the domestic market in how to export or open further offices overseas.
Since 2009, The Lighthouse Company has published The New World Talent Survey [4] an influential survey of over 600 senior executives from the advertising, media, marketing and tech sectors contribute that reveals an overview of the key trends, opinions and challenges currently facing the industry.[5]
In 2012, Saxton became the co-founder Advertising Week Europe in 2012, a five-day event held across a host of venues in central London. In excess of 24,000 people attended more than 220 events held by Advertising Week Europe in 2016.[6] The London Evening Standard called it as a ‘feelgood festival’ but also noted that Brexit was big theme at Advertising Week and stated ad bosses are unanimous in warning that 'Brexit would be savage.' [7]
She also has a degree in psychotherapy from Regent’s University and is currently a practising off peak psychotherapist for The Grove, in Wimpole Street, London. Saxton recently launched Psyched,[8] to bring psychotherapy into the boardroom and tackle the problem of stress which is said to cost the US economy an estimated $300bn a year.[9]
Charity Work[edit]
Saxton is a member of Speakers for Schools programme [10] - a UK charity launched in 2011, supported by the British government, to provide state secondary schools and colleges with talks from leading professionals, public figures and academics. Other notable speakers within the programme include Lord Melvyn Bragg, Baroness Lane Fox, Dan Snow and Prue Leith. She also currently sits on the board of ChildLine, the counselling service for children and young people provided by the NSPCC, and is co-chair of the annual ChildLine Ball held in Old Billingsgate, London.[11]
