Kathrine Schanche Syran (born April 9, Oslo, Norway), known professionally as Katrina Syran and K-Syran, is a versatile artist based in London, United Kingdom, renowned for her contributions as a singer-songwriter, actress, producer, writer, and director.

Early life and education[edit]
Syran pursued her education at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she completed her Bachelor of Arts Honors degree.
Career[edit]
Syran made her West End debut at the Young Vic Theatre with the Sphinx Theatre Company (formerly the Women's Theatre Group) in 1996, playing the lead character Anna during a UK tour. She continued to work with Sphinx and performed at the Tricycle Theatre in The Snow Palace, directed by Janet Suzman, followed by a tour to Warsaw, Poland.
Syran's theatrical work in London includes roles such as The Galitzienne Jewess at The Etcetera Theatre (1998) directed by Penny Black, Miss Julie by Strindberg at the Strindberg Festival (1999), and Hilde in The Master Builder by Henrik Ibsen at Tristan Bates Theatre and Arts Theatre (1998). She also contributed a new translation of Henrik Ibsen’s Ghost with Mike Alfreds in 1997.
Apart from her work in the theater, Syran has also directed and produced various plays, including Les Trois Voleurs de Cardamon in Geneva's Salle Central De La Madeleine (2003). She premiered The Vagina Monologues in Geneva in 2005, donating the proceeds to Solidarite Femmes. Additionally, she co-wrote the play Breaking The Silence (2015), which was recognized at the End Sexual Violence in Conflict event hosted by Angelina Jolie and The Hague.
Syran has appeared in several UK films, including Don’t Miss The Cup (2014) with Tamsin Greig and the thriller Hounded (2022) directed by Tommy Boulding. In 2023, she released the self-produced movie Ellida, based on Henrik Ibsen’s play The Lady From The Sea, in which she played the lead character. The film was distributed by Porter+Craig and released in the US on VUDU.
