Katlaa Curry is a 2024 Indian Gujarati-language romance drama film directed by Rohit Prajapati. It is the second Gujarati film centered on LGBTQ themes after Meghdhanushya — The Colour of Life.[1]
Plot
The film is set in a fishing village along the Narmada River. Raaymal, a fisherman rescues Ratan, a young man and their relationship develops into a journey of emotional connection and self-discovery.[2] Ratan then learns to cook Katla Curry, which becomes a reflection of the unspoken feelings they share. However due to family pressure, Raaymal marries a girl named Kumti.[3]

Release and Screening
The film was first premiered at KASHISH Pride Film Festival. It was selected for screening at the Tasveer Film Festival in the United States.[4][3]
Reception
Aishwarya Srinivasan writing for Social Ketchup, wrote that the film presents themes of self-acceptance and social judgment through the evolving relationship between its two characters.[5]
Matthew McQuilkin, writing for Fruitcake Enterprises, described the film as one of the few Gujarati-language queer narratives and discussed its significance within regional cinema.[6]
