Kattarpanthy (हिंदी: कट्टरपंथी, English: Radicalism) is an Indian action thriller film written, produced, and directed by Prashast Singh. The film stars Prashast Singh himself in the lead role.[2] Kattarpanthy narrates the story of a man torn between his lost respect and his thirst for revenge from the conspirator who caused his disrespect in society. The film was released on 15 April 2016.[3][4][5]
Plot
Karthik Narayan (Prashast Singh) is now living in an isolated environment and becomes a Kattar or Radical, by sticking to the view that he did nothing wrong. The system wronged him because he was framed by a girl. He feels that there should be gender equality rather than the empowerment of just either men or women. Both deserve equality. On the other hand, the main conspirator behind this finds that Karthik has grown a moustache and beard, thus concluding that his age would be around 30. He decides to kill him.
On the other side, Karthik recalls his past, and a flashback shows that a corrupt inspector had come to arrest him, but Karthik had managed to overpower him and also beat him with a hammer on his shoulder. But the inspector survived and framed Karthik, who lost his respect. From that day, Karthik decided to live isolated and seek revenge from the main conspirator. Then, Karthik calls the main conspirator and reveals that he has no moustache or beard and he just played a game to prove his innocence from a different identity. But the conspirator reads out what was written on his apology letter and asks him to come and collect it. He was in his house only. Karthik goes to the temple room where they both engage in a rough fight.
The fight then extends to Karthik's room, where he nearly manages to overpower the conspirator, who later throws him down. But Karthik then picks him up and drags him to the door to let him escape. Thinking that Karthik is a fool to let him escape, he gets up to go and hands him his letter. But soon Karthik reveals that he had his henchman waiting outside, and that he (the henchman) had killed him. Then, Karthik gives a message regarding gender equality, after which he turns the hourglass kept on the rack. The film ends with a close shot of the sand falling in the hourglass.
