Kawoon Khamoosh
Kawoon Khamoosh (Persian: [کاوون خموش]; born 03 November 1991) is a reporter and documentary filmmaker from Afghanistan[1]. His recent documentary film for BBC World Service, Afghanistan’s Open Secret (2020) shortlisted for AIB International Media Excellence Awards[2].

Before joining the BBC, Kawoon worked for a number of local media in Afghanistan to cover conflicts and everyday life of people in the areas affected by war. His first career was with Afghanistan’s National Radio and Television Network as a local producer when he was still in his high school in 2007[3].
In March 2010 he started his bachelor degree in Political Sciences in Kabul and throughout the years of study he worked for Afghanistan’s prominent newspapers and TV networks including 1TV News, one of Afghanistan’s leading news media channels[4].
In February 2013, Kawoon joined BBC World Service as a reporter based in Kabul and he has been working for the BBC throughout his career since then[5].Kawoon received his postgraduate degree of MA in International Journalism form SOAS University of London in 2017 and is now working as a london-based reporter for BBC World and BBC World Service.
