Keep Calm Talk Law is an online journal, specialising in commentary on contemporary legal issues. Its articles are written by law students, for law students.

History

Keep Calm Talk Law was founded on the 11th November 2013 by Chris Bridges, a law graduate from the University of Birmingham.[1]. Bridges served as the journal's first Editor in Chief from the founding date until November 2016, at which point he passed on the role to Keir Baker, a final-year law student at the University of Cambridge who had been writing articles for the journal on a regular basis since July 2015[2].

To date, Keep Calm Talk Law has published 573 articles written by 99 authors. Its articles have been praised by a number of prominent legal and political commentators[3][4][5], and been cited in academic literature[6][7][8].

On the 5th January 2016, Keep Calm Talk Law was one of the first publications to publish an article highlighting the issues facing so-called Accidental Americans, American citizens who - after more than 77,000 financial institutions agreed to pass information to the Inland Revenue Service about the bank accounts of American citizens overseas - became liable to pay tax and faced the freezing of their accounts under the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act 2010, despite being unaware of their citizenship status[9].

On the 22nd November 2014, Keep Calm Talk Law published an article by Lauren Riley - a solicitor and English television personality who rose to fame in 2014 by taking part in the tenth series of The Apprentice.
