Major Keilyn S. DiStefano is an American military officer. She served as a signal officer in the Georgia Army National Guard before coming out as a transgender woman in 2010. After completing her gender transition, DiStefano was assigned to the Virginia Army National Guard's 91st Cuber Brigade.

Career

DiStefano started her military career in 1998 as an M1 Abrams armor crewmember in the United States Army.[1][2]

After graduating from college, she earned a commission as a signal officer in the Georgia Army National Guard.[1]

Once open transgender service was authorized, and the transgender military ban was dropped, DiStefano was among the first group of transgender soldiers to receive a memo authorizing them to comport to the standards of their affirmed gender.[1]

In 2017, DiStefano joined the Virginia Army National Guard's 91st Cyber Brigade.[1]

In 2019, she was sent on a network support mission at Fort Meade in Maryland.[3]

Personal life

DiStefano came out as a transgender woman and started her gender transition in 2010.[1]
