Kekirawa Central College
Kekirawa Central College (Sinhala: කැකිරාව මධ්ය විද්යාලය, Tamil: கெகிராவா மத்திய கல்லூரி) is the first Central College in North Central Province . And It is known as the only government school where girls wear Half saree as the uniform .

Kekirawa Central College, which is located in an attractive place in North Central Province. Kekirawa central college; the renowned alma mater holds a radiant history of more than half a century. This school which has produced a lot of educated people for the country is about 20 acres in extent. The revolution of the system of ‘free education’ introduced by Mr.C. W. W. Kannangara, who was the minister of education in 1945, was a great revolution in the field of education in Sri Lanka. It was a priceless gift given to the village children. Kekirawa central college was the 25th among the 54 central colleges established by Mr.C. W. W. Kannangara. Also, it has become the first central college (Madhya Vidyalaya ) in the North Central Province. Though there were some bitter experiences she has got, Kekirawa Central College was humble enough to nourish her sons and daughters not only knowledge and skills but also in attitudes. She was born as a Buddhists mixed school having primary section and a secondary section. Later the school was opened with the name of Kekirawa Central College in 20 acres land extent under the base of D.B.EKANAYAKE in 01.07.1945 at the beginning Mr.P.B.BANNEHEKA acted as the principal and there were 31 students and 02 teachers. On 25th 05.1993 during the period of service of the principal Mr.K.M.H.BANDARA, this school was upgraded as a national school. At the beginning of the school, boys were clothed white shirts and white shorts while girls were clothed white frock. But in 1958 with the acceptance of teachers and parents, the uniform of the students from grade 10-13 was changed. Half saree was introduced to the girls who are in that grades and white shirt and white trouser was introduced to boys. Wearing half saree is a significant feature in Kekirawa Central College. From the beginning to the present, students have developed educational activities as well as sports activities and they have developed their skills, abilities, attitudes, self-confidence, etc .

The students are divided in to four houses, which are named after four ancient sinhalese forts in Sri lanka .

- Anura (Anuradhapura Kingdom)
- Thissa (Tissamaharama)
