Kelsey Pfendler

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Kelsey Pfendler is an American rower who, as of June 2026, is attempting to become the first American woman and youngest woman to row the Mid Pacific solo.[1]

Starting as a raft guide at 18, Kelsey has been a boatman in Grand Canyon guiding multi-day trips on the Colorado river since 2018. In the off season, she serves as an emergency room technician. [2] She first crossed the Atlantic ocean in 2020 by sail, competed on the USA Women’s Open Raft Race Team and represented the USA in the World Rafting Championships in Bosnia in 2022. Her second ocean crossing was the Mid Pacific by oar in 2024.

Her attempt to cross from California to Hawaii in 2026 began on Thursday, May 21 when she departed from Monterey.[3] Her goal is to beat the prior records set by Lia Ditton of 86 days, 10 hours and 5 minutes. If successful, this will make her the third woman to cross the mid-Pacific after Ditton and Roz Savage.[2]
