Kendall Rae (born April 22, 1993) is an American YouTuber, podcast host, business owner, and missing persons advocate. As of right now, she has gained over 2.3 million subscribers and over 330 million views.[1]
Early Life
Kendall Rae was born on April 22, 1993 in Boston, Massachusetts. She went to college in Colorado, where she documented her issues with her college roommate. Rae has a younger sister named Annalee.
Career
2012-2015: Career Beginnings
After her freshman year of college, Rae decided to create her channel, originally called "KendallsPlace" on August 2, 2012.[2] On her channel, she posted beauty tutorials, lifestyle videos, product reviews, vlogs, and rants about current events. Her rant video called "RANT/ Reaction to "What Guys Look for in Girls"" went viral, gaining over 250,000 views. Within two years, she amassed over 40,000 subscribers.
She gained a lot of attention with her raw videos depicting hardships in her life such as her eating disorder[3] and breast reduction surgery.[4]
Throughout her beginning years, she experimented with different types of content such as astrology, politics, conspiracy theories, and true crime.
2016-2018: True Crime Videos and Advocacy for Thorn
On September 25, 2016, Rae posted her first true crime video, titled "THE UNSOLVED MURDER OF JONBENÉT RAMSEY! IS SHE NOW KATY PERRY?", which has now gained over 2.5 million views.[5] Due to the success and her fans’ love of the new series, Rae continued to create true crime and conspiracy content.
On January 1, 2017, Rae uploaded the first in a new series, called "Where Is?" This series goes in depth on different types of missing persons cases across the world. The first one was titled, "WHERE IS MADELEINE MCCANN?! MISSING PEOPLE- NEW SERIES!" and garnered over 1 million views.[6] Although it wasn't until two months later that she switched to creating exclusively true crime and conspiracy videos.
2018-Present: Apartment 801 Documentary, Podcasts and Business
Along with her successful series, "Where Is...", Rae has created hundreds of videos bringing awareness to missing person cases, domestic violence, sex trafficking, and child tracking, to name a few. One of her newest series brings in family members related to the case she discusses that week. Some have been family members and friends attached to the cases of Jacob Landin[7], Melissa Platt[8], and Alissa Turney.[9]
Towards the beginning of 2020, Rae released a two-part docuseries on YouTube surrounding the tragic case of Christian Andreacchio called "Apartment 801."[10][11] Within the two-hour series, Rae and her husband, Josh, talk to the victim's family, gain access to documents, and do everything they can to help find out what happened to Andreacchio.
In January 2018, Rae and her husband, Josh, launched a podcast called, The Mile Higher Podcast, where they post weekly roundups on true crime and mysterious cases. The adjacent YouTube channel has gained over 290,000 subscribers within three years.[12]
In July 2020, Rae and her cousin, Janelle, created a podcast, The Sesh, where they discuss current events, spirituality, mental health, and their personal experiences.
Rae's latest endeavor is a small CBD shop called, Higher Love Wellness. Launched in March 2021 with her husband, Josh, the shop creates and sells CBD gummies, oils, and other CBD related products from Colorado.
Advocacy
Throughout Rae's true crime videos, she's supported multiple foundations, with Thorn being one of the biggest.[13] Rae has done multiple campaigns such as collaborating with small artists to create merch and donating the merch funds. As of February 2020, she and her fans have raised over $70,000 to help end child sex trafficking.[14] Some brands she's collaborated with for campaigns include Magic of I, Art by Jac Studio, and Candles by Victoria.
Personal Life
On June 4, 2016, she married long-term partner and fellow YouTuber Joshledore. They currently reside in Colorado with their 10 pets and frequently post about their adventures on their Instagram, @milehigherzoo. She is a Taurus.
