Kennedy Mmari is the Founder of Tanzania Digital Awards] the largest awards scheme in Tanzania which seeks to extend recognition to individuals and organizations who make effective use of digital platforms to creatively and innovatively inspire actions, bring change and foster lasting impact across and beyond the online community using and through digital platforms and technologies.

He also found and run Serengeti Bytes, a leading public relations agency in Tanzania. Serengeti Bytes has worked with the United Nations, Vodacom, National Microfinance Bank and the government of Tanzania among many assignments in integrated, traditional and digital, corporate and consumer campaigns that create real impact. The Agency has a presence in Tanzania, Ghana and London in the United Kingdom.

Kennedy is considered among the most influential young Tanzanians both online and offline.

Career beginnings[edit]

Prior to self-employment, Kennedy worked in private, developmental and public sectors in various capacities such as research design and management; authorship and publication of documents, which address knowledge gaps, share lessons, inspire practice and foster a growing community of practice, to accelerate the contribution of social accountability practice in delivering sustainable development goals.

Kennedy had also worked in communications roles for NGOs, government and private companies in Tanzania and across the region. During this time, he supported all external communication efforts authored several publications including annual reports, news articles, press releases, blogs, and social media management. Some of Mr Mmari’s publications have appeared in the Guardian Newspaper as well as local newspapers and television stations.

Education[edit]

Mr Mmari holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Advertising (honours) from the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and is a certified Digital Marketer by Google, IAB Europe, HubSpot and LinkedIn.

Early Life[edit]

Kennedy was born on 2 April 1992 in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania in a family of four children.

Awards and Recognition[edit]

Kennedy is an Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society, due to his commitment to helping to achieve sustainable development Goals in Tanzania. He is also Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Goalkeeper, the honorary association as a result of his commitment and contribution to various areas of Sustainable Development Goals in Tanzania.

In 2019, Kennedy was named in the list of 100 Most Influential Young Africans in a Business Category, recognising ofhis work at Serengeti Bytes and also. In the same year, he was listed among the 50 Most Influential Young Tanzanians, in awards provided by Africa Youth Awards programme, under Avance Media based in Nigeria.
