Kenwood Country Club

Kenwood Country Club is an all-seasons private country club in Cincinnati founded in 1930. The club is located 12 miles northeast of downtown Cincinnati, near the Madeira and Madisonville communities, just east of I-71..[1].

History

Kenwood Country Club was founded in late 1929 by a group of members of the downtown Cincinnati Club. In pursuit of a golfing country club, the committee, led by Edward J. Hoff, Kenwood’s first president[2], acquired 341 acres of farmland northeast of the city. Soon after the initial purchase, an additional amount of land was added to the club’s grounds, which totals 482 acres.

One of the nation’s leading golf course architects of the era, William H. Diddel, designed the original 36 holes[11]. Golf was first played at Kenwood in August of 1930[12].

In late 2019, the Kendale course underwent a renovation by the Fry/Straka golf design firm[13][14].

Staff

Kenwood Country Club operates as a non-profit and with a staff of more than 200 employee partners [15].

Professional Golf Tournaments

Kenwood Country Club has hosted multiple professional golf events including the 1933 National Amateur Championship[16][17], the 1954 Western Open[18], and the 1963 U.S. Women's Open[19][20]
