The 2000 Marlboro Grand Prix of Miami was the first and opening round of the 2000 CART FedEx Champ Car World Series season, held March 26, 2000, on the Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida.
The race winner was Max Papis, which was his first Champ Car victory.
This was the first race after the death of Greg Moore, also this marks the race in just having only one driver from the 1980s Michael Andretti, Because Rick Mears, Johnny Rutherford, Al Unser, Mario Andretti, Bobby Rahal, Danny Sullivan and Emerson Fittipaldi were already retired And Al Unser Jr who moved to the IndyCar. Jimmy Vasser and Juan Pablo Montoya are the only world champions drivers participate (along with Andretti)) in the race because Nigel Mansell was retired, Jacques Villeneuve was in F1 and Alex Zanardi was taking a sabbatical year.
