DR. Abhishek Yadav is an Indian surgeon with special expertise in liver and hepato-biliary surgery. He is one of the founder members of the liver transplant society of India and has special expertise in living donor liver transplantation and liver transplantation in small babies. He is the director of the comprehensive liver care program at VPS healthcare.

Early life and education-

He was born on 30th September 1977 at Agra in India, his parents are Dr. Promila Yadav and Dr. RS Yadav. His school education was from Sherwood college Nainital and early medical education from S.N Medical college Agra and NHL Medical college Ahmedabad where he was the university topper and was awarded 3 gold medals by Gujarat University. He subsequently did his M.Ch in surgical gastroenterology from GB Pant post graduate institute of medical education New Delhi. He completed his liver transplantation fellowship from Asan Medical centre in South Korea and from Apollo hospitals New Delhi.

Career-

Dr. Yadav started his career as a consultant in liver surgery and transplantation at Apollo hospitals New Delhi where he was part of the team which performed 1200 living donor liver transplants between 2010-2015, and was instrumental in setting up liver transplant programs at Sheikh Zayad hospital in Lahore Pakistan and at Apollo hospital Kolkata where he served as a visiting consultant. Since 2018 Dr. Yadav is serving as the director of Comprehensive Liver Care Institute at VPS Lakeshore Kochi. In 2019 he performed liver transplantation on 2 small babies 13 months and 8 months of age using an innovative technique of intra operative portal vein stenting. In 2021 he utilised the same technique to do a liver transplant for a 5 month old baby from Lakshadweep. He has published research papers in relation to liver transplantation and liver surgery in various medical journals has trained numerous young surgeons in liver surgery.
