Albert Jack is an English writer and historian who achieved notable success in 2004 when his third book, Red Herrings and White Elephants, became an instant bestseller[1].

The book was serialized by The Sunday Times and the Daily Mirror and remained on the Sunday Times Bestseller List[1] for two years. In 2005 Albert signed what would become a 6-year contract with Pearson (Penguin) to write a series of follow up titles.[2]

Pop Goes the Weasel, his study of the dark history of children's nursery rhymes, also became a worldwide bestseller[3] in 2008 and What Caesar did for My Salad[4] followed suit in 2010.[5][6]

Jack's books cover a range of subjects including history, mystery, politics and war and reveals the interesting etymology of words, idioms & phrases, the origins of food, nursery rhymes, pub names, invention and famous mysteries & urban legends.[5][7]

He is now a veteran of hundreds of live television shows and has made thousands of radio appearances worldwide.[8]

His books have become bestsellers in America, Canada, South Africa, Australia, Great Britain & Europe and translated into many languages[9]
