BVI is a global medical company manufacturing and distributing surgical devices dedicated to ophthalmology. BVI's headquarters are located in Waltham, Massachusetts.
BVI manufactures and distributes products to treat patients affected by eye conditions such as cataract, refractive error, glaucoma, retinal disease, and dry eye.
History[edit]
In 1932, Rudolph Beaver started the company and developed first Beaver blades and handles. John Beaver became Company resident in 1953 and developed Beaver Mini blades®. BD acquired BEAVER in 1988, then Visitec Inc (cannulas manufacturing founded in 1979).
BVI was created when BD separated from its ophthalmology branch [2]. The same year after its creation, BVI acquired Medtronic and Medical Apen. BVI then made the following acquisitions:
In 2016 Beaver Visitec International (BVI) is acquired by American investment company TPG Capital [5] [6].
