Ben Heyes (born 5 October 1998) is a rugby league player who plays as a fullback for the Swinton Lions in the Betfred Championship.

He has previously played for Thatto Heath Crusaders and the Salford Red Devils academy.

Background[edit]

Ben Heyes was born in St Helens, England.

He attended The Sutton Academy, where he had a passion for sport. He later attended Liverpool Hope University.

Playing career[edit]

Salford Red Devils[edit]

Heyes joined Salford Red Devils in 2015 playing as part of their academy. Later in 2016, he was released when the academy folded.

Thatto Heath Crusaders[edit]

Heyes joined Thatto Heath Crusaders in 2017 at open age. He established himself as their main full-back during his time at the club playing in the National Conference League. He was part of the team that beat North Wales Crusaders in a 16-14 victory in the Challenge Cup on 30 March 2019[5]. He had taken part in a tour with England Community Lions RL in October 2019[6]. He was awarded the Man of the Match award in his first game, which was the second of the tour.

Swinton Lions[edit]

On 18 November 2019, Heyes signed a one-year deal with Swinton Lions[7]. On 26 August 2020, he signed an extended one-year contract[8]. He made his debut for Swinton Lions against Leigh Miners Rangers in a 56-0 win[9].
