Blake Taylor is an Actor and Producer from Adelaide, South Australia, A graduate of the Flinders University Drama Centre program, Taylor has starred in several film and stage productions and who has received awards for his contribution to community arts and cultural development with ActNow Theatre.[1]
Early Life
Taylor was born on January 30th 1991, and grew up in regional South Australia, Mount Gambier. At the age of 15 he left high school to do a trade, studying to be a patisserie [2]. It wasn't till the age of 21 that he was exposed to the possibility of a career in the arts, staring in a production of RENT the musical at the Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre in 2012. In 2014 Taylor auditioned for and was accepted into the Flinders University Drama Centre Program.
Career
Taylor graduated university with an Honours degree in Creative Arts (Drama) at the end of 2019.
In 2020 after all acting work had dried up during the COVID-19 pandemic, Taylor shifted his focus to administration, co-founding and charing the Performers Support Fund Of South Australia (PSFSA)[3], and volunteering for RUMPUS Theatre, eventually being appointed their inaugural Season Manager. During his time at RUMPUS Taylor oversaw the production of 6 successful shows, and implemented many changes to the venue to make it more accessible
At the same time Taylor began working as an Associate Artist at ActNow Theatre, working his way up to become the Digital Innovator, then Program Coordinator, Business & Operations Coordinator, and finally General Manager[4]
